Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

You may prefer to enjoy a glass of chilled wine with your fine Italian dinner at Buca di Beppo's, but the only discussion item on the evening's menu will be chilled water. At the Nov. 8 Illinois Chapter membership meeting, our panel of presenters will describe the advantages of chilled water district cooling versus going with an individual building central plant -- and how each might fit best in varied situations. You'll hear from an executive of a downtown Chicago district plant (one of the world's largest), the chief engineer of a building with its own central plant, and also from an expert and ex-chairperson of ASHRAE's District Energy Committee.

Panel members include:

Steve Tredinnick, senior project manager with Burns & McDonnell, has more than 33 years of HVAC design experience, the majority of which have been devoted to district energy projects. Steve led the ASHRAE committee that completed the last revision of the District Energy chapter in the 2016 Handbook and developed the District Cooling Guide and District Heating Guide. Steve was formerly also on the board of directors for the International District Energy Association (IDEA).

Jim Rylowicz, Business Development Manager, Enwave Chicago, which provides sustainable district cooling service to nearly 48 million sq ft of building space in the Loop, and surrounding areas. He develops energy service strategies designed to provide customers with economic, operational and environmental benefits.

Mark Bettin, Chief Engineer at Merchandise Mart
