Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. The next Illinois Chapter membership meeting is planned for Tuesday, April 10, at Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant at the Yorktown Mall in Lombard. York Chan, Vice President of Facilities for Advocate Health Care's 12 Chicago-area acute care hospitals with over 350 sites of care, will describe the current state of Healthcare Facilities, locally and nationally, and where economic and regulatory developments might take them. Hear what hospital owners are looking for from HVAC consulting engineers, equipment providers, service and construction contractors. York will also talk about some of the challenges related to the physical environment including complying with ASHRAE 170.

York is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager, Certified Healthcare Constructor as well as attaining “Senior” status with ASHE. He has served as a Board Member, American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and also the Healthcare Engineering Society for Northern Illinois, including one term as President. For the Joint Commission, York was the author for “The Environment of Care Handbook”. He also served as content expert and reviewer for the publication, “Environment of Care Management Plans.”
