Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Get together with Illinois ASHRAE members for an interesting presentation on Overcoming Objections to Energy Efficiency Investments. Find out about methods that can be used by engineers, contractors, and vendors to overcome the objections of business owners toward investments in energy efficient products and services. The session will emphasize financial considerations that go beyond the traditional “first cost” and “simple payback” method. Attendees will learn how to use return on investment, life cycle cost analysis, capitalization rate, and tax effects to help business owners appreciate the true long-term financial benefits of energy efficiency. In addition, the workshop will explore the underlying psychology of financial decision-making and the thought processes that give rise to common objections to investments.

Our presenter is ASHRAE DL Hank Jackson, P.E., owner and principal of ETech Solutions. Hank has provided technical training and consulting services in the energy efficiency marketplace since 1979. He holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering (1974) and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (1978), both from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. Originally registered in Georgia, Mr. Jackson currently practices in North Carolina. He served as director of the Georgia Industrial Energy Extension Service program at the Georgia Institute of Technology prior to entering a private consulting practice. During a five-year hiatus from consulting, he was department chair of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in Asheville, NC. An ASHRAE member since 1983, Hank co-authored “Infiltration Heat Gains through Cold Storage Room Doorways,” 1989 with W.A. Hendrix and D.R. Henderson, ASHRAE Transactions 95(2).

The technical program will qualify for 1 - 2 PDHs. We hope to see you May 14 at Kaiser Tiger. Register today.
