Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

The Education Committee will renew its highly informative, popular seminar series, Engineering Principles for HVAC System Design, this fall. The weekly seminars will start Thursday, Oct. 4, and run for seven consecutive Thursday nights. Classes start promptly at 6:00 p.m. ending around 9:00 p.m. Classes will be held at the University of Illinois Student Center East, 750 S. Halsted St., Chicago. There is parking directly across the street on Halsted.

The registration fee pays for the electronic version of the course textbook, “Principles of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning,” by Ron Howell & Bill Coad, and is coordinated with the 2013 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals as well as other related texts. Various spreadsheet software examples for load determination, heat transfer coils, ductwork, pipe sizing and psychrometrics will also be available. All presentations will be available for download prior to each class, along with answers to problems and examples. Everyone who completes the seven-weekly seminars will receive a certificate of completion with 21 PDH credits.

The course cost is $600 if registration payment is received by Sept. 28, 2018; course cost is $650 after Sept. 28 (NO EXCEPTIONS). Requests for individual nights will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis at $150 per session.
