Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Monitoring-Based Commissioning + Fault Detection & Diagnostics

Join us on October 9th to discuss Monitoring-Based Commissioning and Fault Detection and Diagnostics. Two leaders in the field will discuss the benefits to and the steps needed to launch an MBCx program, the engineering and boots-on-the-ground support required, and software options currently available. Then they'll dig into the fault detection process, how the analytics work, how to process faults and create your own and how that relates to energy savings. This presentation is geared to be beneficial to owners and engineers!

Our presenters will be:

Ben Talbot, Senior Associate, DLR Group — Ben is well versed in various commissioning services provided through utility incentive programs across the Central Region. By leveraging building automation system historical data and functional testing of HVAC equipment, Ben can find the root cause of HVAC issues or inefficiencies. He works with owners and contractors to implement solutions and ensure buildings continue to operate efficiently. As a professional mechanical engineer with experience in HVAC design and energy modeling, Ben applies his system troubleshooting experience to uncover deep energy savings through the commissioning, retro-commissioning, monitoring-based commissioning process.

John Villani, PE, LEED AP, QCxP, CEM, GBE, Vice President, Grumman/Butkus Assocs. — John is a veteran engineering consultant leading the design, energy, commissioning and retro-commissioning activities and services at G/BA. He a licensed professional engineer in several states, is active in ASHRAE and the Association of Energy Engineers, and is a past president of the Building Commissioning Association’s Central Chapter, which covers 12 states in the Midwest.

It's October and what better time and place to celebrate it with many of the tastiest German food delights and beer featured at the Kaiser Tiger Bar & Grill? There will be plenty of both. We promise!
