Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

The new Illinois Energy Conservation Code goes into effect March 2019, and we will be following the IECC 2018 statewide. Our meeting presentation will summarize key changes to the previous IECC 2012 & 2015 versions that we have followed in Illinois for the past 6 years. The focus will be on HVAC systems including discussion of:

  • Minimum equipment efficiencies
  • Multi-speed fan requirements
  • Multi-stage equipment requirements
  • Economizer thresholds
  • Economizer dampers, controls, and settings
  • Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV)
  • Boiler plant staging and control
  • VAV control requirements
  • Duct sealing and leakage testing

We hope that you can join us to contribute to the discussion (1.5 - 2.0 PDHs).

Our presenter, Ryan R. Hoger, has been with Temperature Equipment Corp. since 1997. A past president (2007-08) of the Illinois ASHRAE Chapter, Ryan is actively involved with several gas/electric utility committees. He has extensive experience with building automation systems (BAS), energy recovery ventilators (ERV), variable refrigerant flow (VRF), demand controlled ventilation (DCV), and other energy-conserving HVAC systems. Ryan provides ongoing training on numerous HVAC topics and has authored many HVAC articles for various publications. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois.
