Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. Join this lively, timely and topical discussion of the coronavirus pandemic's impact on indoor air systems and how HVAC engineers should prepare to help facilitate the startup of buildings and companies along the road to recovery. David Eldridge, P.E.
Project Manager, Grumman/Butkus Associates
David is a P.E. working on analytical projects including sustainability assessments, benchmarking, energy audits, energy modeling, and other troubleshooting assessments. David has been a contributor to ASHRAE committees on building energy performance, healthcare facilities, and certification. Currently David is co-chair for an ASHRAE task force with the USACE under the Epidemic Task Force on the Healthcare subcommittee, working on a guideline for Alternate Care Sites. Current pandemic-impacted work in addition to the ACS guidebook includes developing reference material for clients, assessments for IAQ enhancements, and sustainability assessments including resiliency.

Keith Hammelman, PE
Principal at CannonDesign
Keith is the Firm Discipline Leader for the Mechanical Department at CannonDesign.  Keith has over 20 years of experience in the design of healthcare, education, corporate commercial, and laboratory facilities across the United States and Internationally.  His passion is the design of buildings which utilize the latest design construction principles to achieve the clients on-going needs for their projects.  His involvement in ASHRAE is a member of TC9.7 for Educational Facilities and is a member of the Steering Committee for the 2021 Virtual Design and Construction Conference.

Saagar Patel, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CCP

Environmental Systems Design, Inc.
Saagar's focus is set on helping his clients balance providing comfortable and productive spaces while maintaining low energy use and reducing overall GHG. Recently, Saagar has presented to Gensler, BOMA-Chicago, JLL, John Buck Company, and many facilities on appropriate reopening plans during the current pandemic. In addition, he has published an article in FacilitiesNet on the impacts of Infectious Diseases and HVAC systems.
