Meeting/Event Information

Illinois Chapter usually meets once each month, August through June, on Tuesdays. The Chapter’s annual golf outing and fund raiser always takes place in September. Generally 70 to 80 members gather at monthly meetings, which makes them an excellent networking opportunity for members interested in meeting and developing other contacts in the industry.

The State of Illinois requires professional engineers to complete 30 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) of training for license renewal. The Illinois Chapter ASHRAE offers educational programs with more than enough PDHs to help engineers satisfy this requirement.

Presentations from previous Chapter seminars and meetings may be downloaded after logging into the "Member Area." The Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE stores past presentations. You must be a member to access them from this website. If you are not yet a member, sign-up today or contact us for more information.

Join us at the Aurora Water Treatment plant for a facilities tour and presentation by Sudesh Saraf from Wight — on the technical award-winning design that utilizes incoming water as a heat sink. The tour is on Thursday, April 25, at 1:30 p.m. This is an operational plant, and not all of it is handicap accessible. Hardhats are not required; however, the tour will include catwalks so dress accordingly with closed toed, non-high heel shoes. Everyone will be required to sign in and out.

As attendance is limited to 30 people, the tour is offered only to ASHRAE members on a first-come basis. We do ask out of courtesy that those who have a change of plans after registering, please contact Don Doherty to cancel your reservation and allow another member to attend. Either call (708) 636-5819 or email [email protected]

This event will qualify for PDH points. Afterward, everyone is invited to an informal social gathering at the nearby Two Brothers Roundhouse microbrewery (205 N. Broadway St., Aurora). For additional information, please contact either Roland Schleicher ([email protected]) or Chad Powell ([email protected]).

The open loop geothermal heat pump system designed by Wight for The City of Aurora Water Treatment Plant was a recipient of the Illinois Chapter Excellence in Engineering Award in 2012. Click here for more information about this other winning projects.
